Welcome Home!

We woke up Thursday morning to an email with a change in flight plan.  He was supposed to fly to Florida, but ended up with a flight to New York (and no further).  We headed to the gym after Trav convinced me that we'll hear something eventually.  The mission office called that morning while we were at the gym to give us an update.  Evidently, they overbooked his flight from Trinidad to Florida, so they rebooked him on a flight to NYC. Instead of flying in to Oakland, he was going to go to SFO about a half hour earlier.  Perfect!  He made it to New York and through customs, but then his flight was delayed to SFO.  There was a strike where the airline was coming from so they had to wait for another plane.  Then, once they boarded there was a mechanical issue so they had to sit on the tarmac for a few hours while they fixed it. He borrowed several phones that afternoon/evening to keep us updated on his progress. After finding out he was going to be home around 2:00 am, I decided to make cinnamon rolls to stay awake!
Family (Grandma and Grandpa Romer and Drew and Tina and kids) were going to come to the airport, but since it was so late it ended up being only us and Tyler and Teri Rossi! After lots of stress and lots of delays Elder Burr finally made it home on Friday morning around 2:15 am.

 Those hugs were amazing!
We got home around 4:00 am and Parker started unpacking his suitcase and chatting with us.  We finally fell asleep for a couple of hours and then got up to get going for the day.  Parker was released on Friday evening by President March.
Saturday, we had an open house to welcome him home from the mission.

Sunday, he reported to the High Council and gave his welcome home talk in Sacrament Meeting.
We are so grateful for the valiant and faithful missionary that he was!
